ISN’T VITAMIX JUST A GLORIFIED OVER-PRICED BLENDER?

Review the blenders you have owned over the years and ask yourself, “Have my blenders lived up to my expectations and have blended without issue, providing me results equal to my local smoothie shop’s drinks? You will most likely say no. To love a Vitamix is to own one.

WHY DOES A VITAMIX USE A PLUNGER WHEN IT’S NEARBY COMPETITORS DO NOT?

The Vitamix Tamper Accelerator Tool (plunger) is designed to assist with very thick or frozen ingredients, making certain that the ingredients reach the blades quickly and efficiently. Vitamix’s nearby competitor offers a similar tool combo called the Twister Jar, which is designed to perform the same tasks as the Vitamix Tamper. The Twister Jar is sold separately and is limited to one jar size, which makes it less versatile for different types of recipes.  I have personally found the Twister Jar very awkward to use. All power blenders need tools to get the job done.

I SAW THE NUTRI NINJA, NINJA MEGA KITCHEN SYSTEM AND NUTRIBULLET BLENDERS ON TV INFOMERCIALS BEING ADVERTISED FOR FAR LESS MONEY THAN A VITAMIX. ARE THEY REALLY A BETTER DEAL?

TV infomercials that challenge leading competitors (such as Vitamix) are designed to make their lower-priced product look better when they really aren’t.
Beware of camera edits in TV informercials, over-hyped horsepower and wattage ratings. Beware especially of these products that are packaged with several accessories to increase feature set and attraction. These machines generally have much lower build quality and may not produce the same blending results or have the same product longevity as the leader they are challenging.

MAY I PURCHASE A VITAMIX BLENDER IN THE USA AND USE IT IN MY COUNTRY USING A VOLTAGE CONVERTER?

Vitamix blenders sold in the United States are designed for USA and Canada use only and their warranties are valid only in the USA and Canada. Connecting Vitamix blenders to a voltage converter may cause instability on the motor and will void the warranty.

VITAMIX HAS TOO MANY MODELS ON THEIR WEBSITE. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES?

There are currently 4 categories of Vitamix machines. Each category is an blending expression of the buyer’s needs. The S-Series is the Personal Blender. Perfect for on-the-go and single-serve recipes. The C-Series are the Classic blenders with the tall container and are perfect for all-purpose blending. The G-Series uses a wider container for easier food processing and has a quieter motor and enhanced cooling for high-traffic usage. The Ascent Series is the latest in innovations with built-in timers, see-thru containers, wireless connectivity, digital readout and offers the option for single-serve blending cups.

ARE RECONDITIONED VITAMIX MACHINES WORTH PURCHASING? AREN’T THEY JUST RESTOCKED RETURNS?

Vitamix Certified Reconditioned machines are an extremely good value. Vitamix performs a full servicing of the motor base, provides a new outer-shell casing, a new blending container with inspected blades and a new recipe book. Reconditioned machines are virtually indistinguishable from a brand new model.
The main difference is the warranty. New models carry a full 7-10 year warranty and Certified Reconditioned machines have a full 5 year warranty.

SHOULD I BUY A COMMERCIAL VITAMIX BLENDER RATHER THAN THE HOME MODEL?

Commercial Vitamix blenders are designed for specific commercial applications and for a constantly running business. Some are designed for making drinks while others are designed for food prep. Home Vitamix blenders are all-purpose machines. They are designed for making everything such as Smoothies, Soups, Milks, Nut Butters, Frozen Desserts and Food Prep. Home Vitamix blenders achieve 100% the same blending results as their commercial counterparts. Home Vitamix blenders come with a 5-10 year warranty while commerceial Vitamix blenders come with a 1 year service, 3 year parts warranty and is valid only in an active commercial business.

WHY DO VITAMIX MACHINES HAVE A 2HP MOTOR WHEN OTHER BLENDERS ADVERTISE 3HP OR HIGHER?

Horsepower alone does not equate to blending performance. There are several factors involved such as blade design, motor efficiency under heavy loads and container design.
Some Vitamix commercial blenders have 3hp motors. The extra horsepower is to drive the fan to keep the blender cool in a busy commercial environment. The extra horsepower does not offer a better blending performance. When horsepower is the main feature being advertised, it’s generally over-blown hype.

IS THE VITAMIX DRY GRAINS CONTAINER REALLY NECESSARY?

If you’re an active baker or a person that grinds grains or mill herbs often then the Dry Grains Container would be best suited. While you certainly may use the included Wet Blade Container and grind grains very well, the Dry Grains Container does this much more efficiently, especially for grains containing oils.

WHY DOES VITAMIX USE A PLASTIC JAR RATHER THAN GLASS?

The Vitamix motor is extremely powerful, offering much higher blending speeds and torque than your typical $50-$100 blender that may have a glass jar. Current glass technology for blenders cannot withstand such powerful blade speeds when crushing ice or hard ingredients, resulting in a possible shattering of the glass jar.
Something to keep in mind, a glass jar is very heavy without ingredients. Adding ingredients increases weight and may not be ideal for most people, including persons who may have dexterity issues.

I WASH MY VITAMIX CONTAINER DAILY, WHY DOES IT LOOK OLD AND CLOUDY?

This may be caused by several types of actions. Minerals from leafy greens, fruits and various other produce may leave a film inside the container. Some spices such as Turmeric may also leave a stain in the container. If this happens, it’s recommended by Vitamix that you perform a deep cleaning by filling the container half-full of water and pouring in 1 cup of vinegar. Click here for more information on the Vitamix website.
Grinding hard ingredients often such as dry grains may cause permanent scratches inside the blending container, resulting in a cloudy appearance. The cloudy look is purely cosmetic and will not affect blending.
For grinding grains on a constant basis, it’s recommend to invest in the Vitamix Dry Grains Container.
