A Better, Bigger, Simpler Vitamix Foodcycler
Everyone needs a Foodcycler in their home whether it’s a Vitamix Foodcycler or any other brand. Food waste is a global issue. Having years of experience in the food industry I can attest to that. Either something is half-eaten or post food-prep there are so many food scraps left over that end up being put out to waste when they certainly could be recycled into something helpful like your garden compost.
INSIDE THE BOX OF THE VITAMIX FOODCYCLER ECO 5
Available in both the USA and Canada, included in the box with the Vitamix Foodcycler ECO 5 is a 5 liter food waste bucket with odor-blocking lid, carbon filter cartridge, carbon filter pellet packet, removable power cord (not shown), instruction booklet and information card. White and Slate colors will be available while White will be exclusive to Vitamix and select retailers. One note about the white color, depending on the lighting it looks more off-white or beige which can be a positive since bright white tends to show dirt very quickly. The Vitamix Foodcycler ECO-5 comes with a full 3-year warranty.
NEW MODEL FOODCYCLER ECO 5 VS. FOODCYCLER FC-50
The Vitamix Foodcycler ECO 5 has a nice modern look resembling a paper shredder or even a trash compactor which is very appropriate considering that it breaks down food. Unlike the older Foodcycler FC-50 the ECO 5 has an LED touchscreen in the front which makes it easier for many to reach and view the food cycling process if sitting on a counter.
TYPES OF FOOD WASTE THAT CAN BE RECYCLED IN THE FOODCYCLER
There are many food types that can be used to recycle in the Foodcycler ECO 5 but I recommend to check out the included owner’s manual.
FOODCYCLER ECO 5 HAS A LARGER CAPACITY FOOD WASTE BUCKET
If you’re a family of two then the Vitamix Foodcycler FC-50 with a 2.5 liter waste bucket capacity will be very suitable. For larger families or persons who do a great deal of food prep and composting then the Foodcycler ECO 5 with the 5 liter capacity waste bucket would be the best choice.
REMOVABLE POWER CORD
The rear of the Foodcycler ECO 5 contains a large slot for the removable power cord which also doubles as a storage slot for the power cord. One major gripe I have about the design of the ECO 5 is due to its weight of about 24LBS it’s difficult to lift for transport. I found using the power cord slot as a handle to be helpful but the ECO 5 needs two dedicated handles for easy transport.
