Vitamix Ascent X-series 48oz Container w/rubber handle

The Vitamix Ascent X-series comes with a 48oz Container with a new rubber handle grip for easy handling. This is a feature that was on much earlier Vitamix Containers. Vitamix brought this feature back which is very welcomed.

Vitamix Ascent X5 making a Frappe and Frozen Dessert.

Vitamix Ascent X5

The Ascent X5 includes 10 presets. This is the most included with any Vitamix blender. Presets are not perfect and results may vary depending on the recipe. The included physical recipe book has recipes tailored for the Presets. You can test out your own recipes to see which works best with the Presets.

On the left I made a Frappé using the Frappé preset which turned out perfect, but on the right I attempted to make a frozen dessert, which did not work well with the Frozen Dessert preset due to lack of enough time left on the timer, and this is after I used the +15 (add 15 seconds) button twice. I did not use any particular recipe, I only threw in frozen strawberries and frozen peaches with no added liquids. After the Preset time ended I just finished the frozen dessert on manual mode and it turned out just fine.

Vitamix Ascent X5 and Vitamix Ascent A3500 compared.

Vitamix Ascent X5 and Vitamix Ascent A3500

Should owners of the A3500 upgrade to the new X5. My recommendation is not to upgrade. The A3500 is a fine machine and actually offers more. It has a built-in cord wrap at the bottom, a programmable timer and connects to the Vitamix Perfect Blend app which offers even more presets that are customizable. Owners of the Vitamix 5200, 7500, Pro 750 or Explorian series will benefit by upgrading to the X5. Those models are not compatible with the Vitamix Food Processor Attachment and may not be compatible with future Vitamix self-detect products.
